My name is Tom Niebuhr and I am the founder of InMemory.
In the summer of 2017, I left a corporate job in the financial services industry to pursue my passion for helping Canadian seniors and their families. As we age, end-of-life planning necessarily takes up a larger place in our thoughts, and one of the most costly (and sensitive) decisions awaiting us is the matter of the funeral.
As I researched the industry, I found concrete, comprehensive information on pricing for funerary services and caskets virtually impossible to come by. Without a resource to compare the pricing and service options of Canada’s 1,500+ funeral homes, grieving families are open to being exploited in their time of need.
That’s why I believe InMemory has an important role to play in bringing transparency to an opaque industry. We spotlight the nation’s best service providers, encourage price gougers to adopt fairer rates, and help families honour their loved ones by ensuring they have the information they require.
The InMemory team has poured countless hours into creating the first database of its kind in Canada, and we will continue to dig deeper in the years to come to make the industry fairer.
Nothing is more important to me than family, and giving back to the community. That’s why I’ve pledged to donate 25% of all income generated by InMemory to registered charities. It’s my sincere hope that in some small way we at InMemory can help ease some of the burden, uncertainty and stress associated with funeral planning, so you can focus on saying goodbye to your loved one the right way.
